Women's Wrestling Season Concludes at Super Regional

The Ballard women's wrestling team wrapped up their season at the Super Regional tournament held at Colfax-Mingo.  Despite a determined effort, the Bombers finished 14th in the team standings with 42 points and did not qualify any wrestlers for the state tournament.

Leading the way for Ballard was Evelyn Faubus (125 lb), who had a strong performance, finishing in third place.  After receiving byes in the early rounds, Faubus pinned Kristyn Crouse (Woodward-Granger) in 3:07 to advance to the semifinals.  She then fell in a hard-fought decision (6-2) against Ayden Erickson (Perry) before rebounding with back-to-back pins, including a victory over Taya Sincox (BGM in the third-place match.

Alivia Glenn (120 lb) pinned Kennedy Thiessen (Iowa Valley, Marengo) in 3:30 in the second round and later defeated Addy Covington (Colfax-Mingo) in 2:59 in the consolation bracket.

Other Bombers securing victories included Liberty Boettger (130 lb) with a fall over Leila Wedgwood (BCLUW-SH) and Afton Holmes (140 lb) who pinned two opponents in the consolation rounds.

Despite a tough overall season, finishing with a 3-10 dual record, the Bombers showed resilience and growth throughout the year. While no state qualifiers emerged from the regional tournament, the experience gained by the young squad will be invaluable moving forward.
