The Ballard Women's Wrestling team competed in the Boone Tournament, showing resilience despite challenging matchups. With a 2-7 record at the end of the day, the Bombers displayed determination and skill throughout their rounds, securing a 5th-place finish.
Round 1: Winterset 36, Ballard 18
In their first match against Winterset, the Bombers faced a tough defeat, 36-18. Key victories came from Amelia Faubus at 105 pounds, who earned a fall in 2:44 over Winterset's Ainsley McLaren, and Evelyn Faubus, who secured a pin in 3:01 at 130 pounds over Bristol Tadlock. Liberty Boettger also picked up a forfeit win at 135 pounds, further highlighting the team's competitive spirit.
Round 2: Woodward-Granger 54, Ballard 18
The Bombers fought hard but fell 54-18 in their second match against Woodward-Granger. Notable victories came from Evelyn Faubus, who pinned Kristyn Crouse at 125 pounds in 3:18, and Liberty Boettger, who won with a pin in 1:17 over Kyly Randles at 130 pounds. However, despite strong efforts, the Bombers couldn't overcome the team's depth and the challenging lineup.
5th Place Match: Ballard 34, Boone 30
In their final match, the Bombers came from behind to defeat Boone 34-30, securing 5th place. The team saw key performances, with Alivia Glenn pinning Averie Strollo at 120 pounds in 1:02 and Evelyn Faubus earning a fall at 130 pounds in 4:47. Liberty Boettger also picked up a major decision, winning 13-4 at 135 pounds over Gracie Vodenik, which helped propel the Bombers to a thrilling win.
With a record of 2-7, the Ballard Women's Wrestling team showed a lot of heart and determination throughout the day. The Bombers will look to improve as they head into the next tournament at Pleasantville on Monday - January 27, scheduled for 5:00 PM.
