Women’s Wrestling Battles at Bob Sharp and NW Waukee Invites

The Ballard women's wrestling team showcased their talents over a challenging two-day stretch, competing at the Bob Sharp Invitational in Ankeny on Friday and the Northwest Waukee Invitational in Waukee on Saturday. 

At the Bob Sharp Invite, the Bombers finished 11th in a strong field of 14 teams, tallying 50.5 points.  Notable performances included Evelyn Faubus placing fourth at 130 pounds, scoring 16 team points.  Faubus earned falls in her first two matches before falling to eventual finalists in the semifinals and third-place match. Liberty Boettger, wrestling at 135 pounds, placed fifth and contributed 13 points with three victories by fall, including a decisive major decision in her final match.  Amelia Faubus (110 pounds) and Aaliyah Buck (115 pounds) each placed sixth, combining for 15.5 team points.

The competition intensified on Saturday at the NW Waukee Invitational, where the Bombers competed against 22 teams and placed 18th with 25 points.  Once again, Evelyn Faubus delivered a standout performance, finishing sixth at 125 pounds.  Faubus secured a fall in her opening match before advancing to the placement rounds. Alivia Glenn (120 pounds) placed eighth, with a key pin in the consolation rounds.  Amelia Faubus also contributed with a technical fall victory in the consolation bracket.

The Bombers return to action on Thursday, January 23, as they head to the Boone Tournament.  Competition is set to begin at 5:00 PM.
