
In an intense, back-and-forth battle, the Bomber volleyball team triumphed over conference rival #14 North Polk Comets with a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night. The match, played in front of a lively crowd, saw Ballard rally after dropping the first two sets, ultimately securing the win with a 15-13 decision in the final set.
The Bombers started strong in the first set but narrowly fell 24-26 to the Comets. The second set followed a similar pattern, with North Polk prevailing 29-27 in extra points. Despite the early deficit, the Bombers refused to back down.
In the third set, the Bombers found their rhythm, taking control with a 25-22 victory that shifted momentum in their favor. They dominated the fourth set, overwhelming the Comets 25-9 to force a decisive fifth set.
The final set was a nail-biter, with both teams trading points. Ballard ultimately came out on top 15-13, securing the match and improving their conference record to 4-2.
With this win, the Bombers improve to 13-11 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Up next, they'll compete at the Indianola Tournament on October 12 at 8:30 AM.
