HUXLEY, IA – Battling both a top-ranked opponent and the elements, the Ballard women's soccer team dropped their season opener 3-0 to No. 2 Nevada on Tuesday night.  Cold temperatures and high winds added an extra challenge, making ball control and passing difficult for both squads.

Nevada struck first in the opening half, capitalizing on a defensive breakdown to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.  The Cubs continued their strong play in the second half, adding two more goals while Ballard fought to generate offensive momentum against the wind and Nevada's aggressive defense.

Despite the result, the Bombers showed resilience and will look to bounce back in their next matchup. They return to action on Friday, April 4, when they host Des Moines Lincoln at 5:30 PM.

The Bombers now sit at 0-1 (0-0 in conference play) and will aim to secure their first victory of the season.
