The Ballard men's wrestling team delivered an impressive performance at the Rich Gray Invitational, hosted by Interstate 35 High School, finishing fourth in a competitive 21-team field with 170 points. The day was highlighted by two individual champions: Rhett Hedrick at 190 pounds and Tucker Vitzthum at 165 pounds. Hedrick dominated his bracket, going 4-0 on the day to claim the title, capped off with an impressive 16-9 victory in the championship match. Vitzthum was equally impressive, securing the 165-pound title with a string of commanding victories.
Easton Enyeart added to Ballard's success with a runner-up finish at 120 pounds. Enyeart earned decisive wins in the early rounds, including a 7-0 semifinal decision, before falling in a hard-fought 5-2 match to Wilton's Liam Adlfinger in the finals. Other notable performances came from Jacob Harrison, who took fifth place at 138 pounds with a 9-0 major decision in his final match, and Jayden Leland, who secured fifth at 150 pounds with a third-period pin to close out his day. Carter Jeffs earned a sixth-place finish at 144 pounds, while Tony Horness and Grayson Hedrick contributed valuable team points in their respective weight classes.
Up next, the Bombers will host a home dual against Webster City and Clarke, with matches set to begin at 5:30 PM.
