The Ballard wrestling team started day #1 at the state wrestling tournament with four wrestlers still in the hunt for a state championship.  Easton Enyeart, Tucker Vitzthum, Brody Sampson, and Henry Christensen each won their championship round 2 match.  Daniel Hyman would lose his match by decision to Owen Klocke of Carroll, 8-5. All wrestlers are still alive in the tournament and will participate on Day #2.

Ballard is currently tied for 12th place in team points with 20.

The Bombers are back in action on Thursday - February 15 when they start day #2 of state wrestling at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.  The 2A session will begin at 9:00 AM.

150 lb Champ. Round 2 - Tucker Vitzthum (Ballard) 37-7 won by decision over Cole Halupnick (North Polk) 28-15 (Dec 9-3)

157 lb Champ. Round 1 - Owen Klocke (Carroll) 40-8 won by decision over Daniel Hyman (Ballard) 22-13 (Dec 8-5)

190 lb Champ. Round 2 - Brody Sampson (Ballard) 38-1 won by fall over Caysen Curran (Mount Vernon) 35-8 (Fall 3:53)

215 lb Champ. Round 2 - Henry Christensen (Ballard) 38-2 won by decision over Ashtin Willms (Clarion-Goldfield-Dows) 34-7 (Dec 6-3)
