
The Ballard women's basketball team faced a tough challenge on the road against the #11-ranked Gilbert Tigers, falling 64-31 in a Raccoon River Conference contest. Gilbert started strong, outscoring Ballard 18-13 in the first quarter and extending their lead to 39-20 by halftime. The Bombers struggled offensively in the second half, scoring just 11 points while Gilbert maintained their dominance.
Senior guard Raegan Loewe led Ballard with 11 points, shooting 33.3% from the field and hitting two three-pointers. Freshman forward Kaylor Johnson contributed 8 points and pulled down 5 rebounds, while freshman Olivia Wacha made an impact with 4 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Despite their efforts, the Bombers struggled with turnovers, committing 22 as a team, and shot just 26.3% from the field, including 4 of 20 from beyond the arc.
The loss drops the Bomber's record to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
The Bombers will look to rebound on Tuesday, January 7, when they host Carroll in another Raccoon River Conference matchup at 6:00 PM.
