The Ballard Men's Bowling Team put up a strong fight, but ultimately came up short against Greene County in a hard-fought match at Perfect Games in Ames on Friday. Greene County secured a 2629-2494 victory, with their standout performances and a few key high scores proving to be the difference in the outcome.
The Bombers were led by senior Brenden Wright, who posted a team-high 366, followed closely by sophomore Kyler Johnson with a 357. Wright and Johnson were consistent throughout the match, ensuring that Ballard remained competitive.
However, Greene County had some incredible individual performances that propelled them to victory. Chase Fecher, a sophomore, turned in the highest score of the night with a remarkable 386. His performance was key in giving Greene County the edge, while fellow teammates Trystan Cummings (350) and Teagan Chisholm (339) also contributed solid scores to put the visiting team in control.
When it came to high games, Ballard's Kyler Johnson led the charge with a high game of 253, followed by Brenden Wright with 201. While the Bombers' efforts were commendable, Greene County's Fecher's 206 game and the consistency of Chisholm's 186 game helped solidify their win.
Despite the loss, Ballard had solid individual efforts from senior Braden Kubichek, who posted a 185 high game, as well as strong performances from Wright and Johnson overall. The Bombers' total score of 2494 showed they had the potential to compete with Greene County, but ultimately fell just short.
With the loss, the Bombers fall to 4-3 (4-2) on the season.
The Bombers will be looking to bounce back when they host Sigourney on Tuesday, January 21, at 2:30 PM.
