Bats Silent In Loss To Bluejays

The Ballard baseball team faced a tough defeat against Bondurant-Farrar, losing 4-1 in a Raccoon River Conference matchup on Wednesday night.  The loss drops the Bombers' record to 9-7 overall and 5-4 in conference play.

Game Recap

The Bluejays took an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding another in the second, making it 3-0.  The Bombers' defense tightened up, holding Bondurant-Farrar scoreless through the middle innings.  However, the Bluejays managed to score one more run in the seventh inning to extend their lead to 4-1.

The Bombers' offense came alive in the fifth inning, scoring their only run of the game.

Hitting Highlights

Nicolas Schonhorst (JR - LF): Went 1-for-4 with a single.
Jacob Luster (JR - 2B): Went 1-for-3 with a double, showing his ability to hit for extra bases.
Miles Mudd (JR - DH): Also went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, driving in Ballard's only run.
Jake Oldenkamp (SR - C): Went 1-for-3 with a single.

Pitching Performances

Nicolas Schonhorst (JR - LF): Pitched the first inning, allowing two hits and one run while striking out two. His final ERA for the game was 7.00.
Owen Greco (SR - P): Pitched six innings, allowing five hits and three runs (two earned) with five strikeouts. Greco's ERA stands at 2.33 for the season.

Looking Ahead

The Bombers will aim to bounce back on Thursday, June 13, when they travel to Carlisle to take on the #8 Wildcats. The junior varsity game is set to start at 5:00 PM, followed by the varsity game.
