Offense Ignites Win For Bombers

GILBERT, IA -- The Ballard baseball team delivered a commanding performance on Wednesday night, defeating the Gilbert Tigers 12-4 in a Raccoon River Conference game at Gilbert.

Senior Eli Rouse led the Bombers' offensive charge, going 3-for-5 with two singles, a double, and two RBIs.  Junior Nicolas Schonhorst also had a standout performance, going 2-for-4 with a single, a double, three runs scored, and two RBIs.

On the mound, junior pitcher Jacob Luster was a force to be reckoned with, throwing 6.2 innings and allowing only four hits while striking out six batters.  Schonhorst also made a brief pitching appearance, throwing 0.1 innings without allowing a hit or run.

Other notable contributions came from junior Miles Mudd, who went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, and freshman Sid Farmer, who went 2-for-3 with a single, a double, and two RBIs.  The Bombers' balanced attack and aggressive baserunning, with four stolen bases on six attempts, kept the pressure on Gilbert throughout the game.

With this victory, the Bombers improve their record to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Next up, the Bombers will host the Carroll Tigers on Thursday, June 6. The junior varsity game is scheduled to start at 5:00 PM, followed by the varsity game.
