The women's cross country team finished second at the Raccoon River Conference Meet hosted by Ballard on Tuesday evening. The Bombers would finish with 71 team points. Gilbert won the meet scoring 34 team points.
Ava Vance was the individual champion. Vance ran in a time of 19:20.6 to take the individual title. Brynn Wilson finished eighth for the Bombers running in a 20:13.6 time. Ava Richardson placed 14th in a time of 20:47.9.

"The girls responded well to the setback of not having Annika Larson racing with us today. Ava Vance continued her dominance on the course winning the RRC individual title with a time of 19:20. Brynn Wilson nabbed 1st team all conference honors with her 8th place finish in a time of 20:13. Ava Richardson added a 2nd team all conference performance placing 14th in a time of 20:47. Raya Miller just missed out of all conference placing finishing 24th overall with a career PR of 21:18. Kya Hermann placed 26th in a time of 22:08 and Grace Grundmeyer and Katie Tollefson with times of 22:22 and 22:25 placing 27th and 28th. Also running well out of JV with season and career PR's were Harper Wendt, Natalie Kruse and Jael Newman.
It is fun to note that our girls improved an average of 40 seconds as a team from our first home meet through the RRC tonight on the same course. Our top 7 varsity cut an average of 23 seconds without having Annika in the line-up at RRC. Sp. that shows that not having Annika was a hurdle to get over, but the girls responded well and ran well. We run in one of the toughest 3A conferences in the state and showed we belong in the rankings. We expect to get Annika back next week for the SQM meet at Winterset and our goal will be to win the title and advance to state. It will be nice having the entire team running and setting our sites on qualifying for state."
The Bombers are back in action on Wednesday - October 18 when they compete in the State Qualifying Meet in Winterset. The meet will start at 4:00 PM.
