Bombers End Season In Super Regionals

The Ballard women's wrestling team showcased their skills and determination as they competed in the Super Regionals held in Mason City High School on Friday. The competition was fierce, and the Ballard wrestlers faced tough opponents in their respective weight classes.  The Bombers were unable to qualify anyone to the state meet and their season has came to an end.

SUPER REGIONAL INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

105 lbs - Amelia Faubus (13-16)

Amelia Faubus, competing in the 105 lbs weight class, demonstrated resilience throughout the competition. Faubus received byes in the first two rounds, showcasing her strategic approach. In the quarterfinals, she faced a formidable opponent in Kara Kennedy from Crestwood, Cresco, ultimately losing by a close decision (8-6). Faubus bounced back in the Consolation Rounds, securing a victory by fall over Isabelle Goltz but faced a tough challenge in Mackenzie Ostola, who won by fall in the following round.

115 lbs - Alivia Glenn (3-8)

Alivia Glenn, wrestling in the 115 lbs category, faced tough competition. After receiving a bye in the first round, Glenn fought hard against Natalie Leitzen but lost by fall. She showcased determination in the Consolation Rounds, securing victories by fall over Sophia Dvorak and Ivy Christensen. Unfortunately, her journey came to an end in the fifth round, where Addalyn Isaacson won by fall.

120 lbs - Ava Vance (15-12)

Ava Vance competed in the 120 lbs weight class, starting strong with a bye in the first round. However, Anna Stene secured a victory by fall in the next round. Vance received byes in the following rounds but faced a tough opponent in Ceanna White, who won by fall in the fourth round.

125 lbs - Evelyn Faubus (12-22)

In the 125 lbs category, Evelyn Faubus exhibited tenacity. After receiving a bye in the first round, she faced tough competition from Ava Garcia, who secured a victory by fall. Faubus fought back in the Consolation Rounds, winning by fall against Stella Grinna and securing a narrow victory by decision over Hailey Wiskus. However, her journey ended in the fifth round when Odessa Nibbelink won by fall.

130 lbs - Liberty Boettger (14-8)

Liberty Boettger, competing in the 130 lbs weight class, received a bye in the first round but faced a challenging opponent in Emma Evens, who won by fall in the second round. Boettger showcased her skills in the Consolation Rounds, securing victories by fall over Katelyn Hughell. However, her journey ended in the fourth round when Kaitlyn Bjork won by fall.

135 lbs - Risako Sakon (15-17)

Risako Sakon, wrestling in the 135 lbs category, started strong with a victory by fall over Madeline Hoover. Despite a loss in the second round to Annaliese Arciniega, Sakon showcased determination in the Consolation Rounds, winning by major decision over Keylyee Collins. Unfortunately, her journey concluded in the fourth round when Karise Benson won by fall.

140 lbs - Mia Hilleman (12-17)

Mia Hilleman, competing in the 140 lbs weight class, exhibited skill and determination. She started with a victory by fall over Mercy Thilges but faced a tough challenge in Jolee Strohmeyer, who won by fall in the second round. Hilleman fought back in the Consolation Rounds, securing victories by fall over McKenna Looby. However, her journey ended in a hard-fought match in sudden victory - 1, where Irelan Brown secured a win.
