Coach Hovenga grew up in Aplington, Iowa and attended Aplington-Parkersburg Schools. Jonas attended North Iowa Area Community College and Hawkeye Community College after high school, getting his AA degree and coaching authorization. Coach Hovenga has coached both wrestling and cross county over the past 10 years. Jonas has coaching experiences at both Aplington-Parkersburg and Ankeny.

Coach Hovenga is married to his beautiful wife for nearly two years.  He loves the sport of wrestling and everything it provides competitively, mentally, and developmentally.  Jonas began coaching because he wanted everyone that participates in the sport to get as much out of it as possible.
