Coach Richards grew up in Des Moines and attended high school at Van Meter JR/SR High School. While at Van Meter, Bailey was a multisport athlete playing basketball, softball, and running track.  During her time at Van Meter, Bailey was a 5-year softball starter, a 4X
All-Conference, 4X All-District, 4x All-State, and state tournament team captain award recipient.  During that stint, her teams went to state twice (5th in 2012 and State Champions in 2016)

Coach Richards went on to play at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) for 2 years in 2017 and 2018 where she was a 2-year All-Region recipient, 1st Team All-NJCAA All-American, and 2nd All-NFCA All-American.  During that time, her teams had two National Tournament appearances finishing 3rd in 2018.

Coach Richards then attended Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) in Nacogdoches, Texas where she played Division I softball for the next three years.  After graduating from SFA with a degree in Kinesiology, Bailey came back to coach at DMACC and Van Meter.  In her first year, her staff at DMACC was named the National Coaching Staff of the Year.  They were ranked 1st in the nation and were the number one seed in the national tournament, falling short with a fifth place finish.  Academically her team received a National Academic Award for having a team GPA of 3.70.

At Van Meter, the Bulldogs made the state tournament appearance and finished fifth.

Bailey is currently a coach at DMACC and serves as the hitting coordinator, catching, and strength and conditioning coach.
