The Ballard men's cross country team finished 6th in the Raccoon River Conference Meet on Tuesday afternoon in Huxley. The Bombers scored 159 team points. Gilbert won the meet scoring 34 team points.
Max Davidson finished 17th overall finishing in a time of 17:21.7. Bradley Sage finished 25th and Graden Hermann finished 32nd. Jameson Witt (36th), Isaac Swisher (49th), Braden Kubicheck (50th), and Alex Weeks (54th) rounded out the Bomber's scoring.
Comments From Head Coach Scott Barth:
"We were at full strength for the boys at the RRC meet and ran well. Max Davidson was our lone all conference performer finishing in as a 2nd team member with a 17th place finish in a time of 17:21. This is by far a season and career PR for him. Bradley Sage ran a solid race in 17:41 and just missed out on all conference honors himself. Graden Hermann and Jameson Witt had HUGE races placing 32nd and 36th overall in season and career PR's of 18:12 and 18:29. Isaac Swisher and Braden Kubichek ran as a pair finishing in times of 19:52 and 19:53 taking home 49th and 50th respectively. Alex Weeks placed 54th in a time of 20:33. I'd also like to point out some PR's out of JV with the performances of Kaleb Dee, Jude Jones, Seth Hilleman, Caleb Hill, Ben Baier, and Elias Hill.
As with the girls, it is fun to see that our boys , on average, ran 1 minute and 10 seconds faster today than they did running at our home meet a few short weeks ago. Narrowing that down, our varsity top 7 improved by 1 minute and 15 seconds. This shows the progress that we are making as a team. I think that gives us a positive result heading into SQM. Motivation should be high for our boys to continue to show progress and see what happens on the course."
The Bombers are back in action on Wednesday - October 18 when they compete in the State Qualifying Meet in Winterset. The meet will start at 4:00 PM.
