Tom graduated from St Ambrose University in 1996 and started working with the Ames Police Department in 1997.  In 2012, Tom received his coaching authorization from Des Moines Area Community College and has been coaching middle school baseball since.  In 2015, Tom was asked to assist with coaching the junior varsity and varsity baseball teams and is excited to assist again in the future.

Tom was inducted into the Hall of Fame at East High School and St. Ambrose University. 

Tom is married to Kristin and they have 3 children, Max, Gabe, and Chloe.
