Coach Kollbaum grew up in Manchester, Missouri outside of St. Louis where he went to Parkway West High School. In high school, Chris played basketball and baseball and they won the 1996 Class 4A Missouri state championship and got third the next year. Chris went to Central College where he was a three-year starter at third base for the Dutch.
After college Chris taught high school math at Southeast Polk where he coached the sophomore baseball team. He then moved to North Polk High School where he taught AP Calculus and AP Statistics and was an assistant varsity baseball coach. The last three years Chris was the head coach at Martensdale-St. Marys.
Chris lives in Ankeny with his wife, Beth, and his two daughters, Evelyn and Hattie. Chris is now a marketing data analyst at AMBA in Urbandale.
