Casey grew up on a farm near Riceville, Iowa.  He participated in football, wrestling, track, golf, and baseball while in high school.  Casey was part of three state championships while he was there; one was in football and two in wrestling where Casey was a two-time place winner.  From there, Casey attended Warburg College in Waverly, Iowa and was an NCAA qualifier and Academic All-American on the Warburg wrestling team that won a National Championship.

After graduating from college in 1998, Casey married his wife Heidi and began teaching and coaching at Aplington-Parkersburg.  Casey was part of a state football title and coached Aplington-Parkersburg to some of its most successful wrestling seasons.  Casey has been in education since 1998.

Casey and his wife have four children: Cecilia, Gabriel, Henry, and Louis who all attend Ballard.  They reside in Slater and love to travel, fish, bike, attend Iowa State Unviersity events and be together as a family.
